Question the Conventional

About Me

Intro

dearman1.jpgWelcome! My name is Ben Dearman and I’m here to question everything regarding the “conventional” fitness industry. Questions are the foundation of knowledge and growth, without questions there is no evolution. Do you question whether you are doing the right thing to take your body and fitness level to the next level? There are thousands of people in the world who blindly follow pre-made programs with no thought or question as to what the program is actually attempting to accomplish. Those people seldom get the results they want and end up falling back on the old adage, “I just don’t have the genetics to be _ (fill in the blank: big, small, thin, built, powerful, strong, fast, etc. etc.)”

Your accountant does your taxes, your mechanic handles your car, why don’t you trust your body to someone who remodels and builds bodies for a living?

Training Philosophy

First off, let me just say that Alwyn Cosgrove said it perfectly in his article Developing a Training Philosophy. When asked what his training style is he replied:

“Why do I have to be a functional training guy? Or an Olympic lifting guy or a Westside guy? Am I a HIT guy? No. Does that mean I’m a low intensity guy then? Absolutely not. I’m all of those and I’m none of those. I’m a results guy. Get the best results in the least amount of time.”   Alwyn Cosgrove

I agree 100% with Alwyn, I am a results guy. I will do anything and everything I can, and I will use every protocol out there to get you where you want to be. If certain ideas/principles/strategies keep occurring in multiple programs, then it is for the simple reason that the strategies work. The fitness industry is bombarded with “keyboard commandos” or “internet gurus”, people that sit behind their computers and never actually get out in the real world and train people. My programs are built on real world evidence and results, either through my own experience or from trusted and knowledgeable industry colleagues.
