Gyms are like a box of tools (say it in a Forrest Gump accent)
I was talking to one of our members today and she was telling me how this Gold’s gym near her kids house closed down. She asked me how can a gym close down?
It really comes down to overhead via equipment. See, most gyms lease or buy their equipment out right. This requires a huge amount of capital out lay or a large monthly payment. Most gym owners don’t understand that the Hammer Strength Bilateral Leg Press is not really a required piece of equipment. Does anyone reading this even know what that piece of machine is?
I have belonged to gyms where I didn’t use 90% (no joke or exaggeration) of the equipment. Gyms are like tool chests. When I see tools in a tool chest I get over whelmed!!! I know each tool is specific for a particular use, but I have no idea which one does which.
I mean what the hell does a five fifths allen wrench go to besides a five fifths allen…screw? Why does a gym need 8 difference pieces of cardio equipment that do the same thing? Or 3 different types of leg extensions (come to think of it, why does a gym have leg extension machines in the first place?). Members are paying for all that fancy stuff that they will never use. It’s like buying a 116 piece tool chest for the hammer. Show me a gym that has squat racks, barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, a pull up bar and medicine balls….and ill show you a successful gym.
Or just come to KDR Fitness and make it easier ;)
I don’t know man big commercial gyms are just crazy. Need more tools? Nah…just give me a hammer.
