Question the Conventional

“I am really good at…..

Driving, talking on my cell phone, txting and answering my emails. It just sucks on Fridays when the people from mass come barreling down the highway going 90 mph. It startles me because all of a sudden they are right on top of me.” This was a conversation I over heard at Panera between a women and a man while I was working on my business plan.

That is really awesome, not like good awesome, but like unbelievable awesome. As in, are you kidding me right now? A car (vehicle) is probably one of the most dangerous things ever invented by man. I say this because if you were to shoot someone there are no physical direct repercussions back on you. However, if you are to get in a car accident, both parties involved stand a very high risk of being injured. Every time you get behind the wheel of your car you are trusting everyone else to be attentive and to give their full attention to driving.

Then this jack ass comes along and tells people how good she is at paying attention to everything but driving. How about if you were in the middle of a transatlantic flight only to look up and see the captain and co-captain out wandering the cabin or sitting down and watching some of the in flight movie? Sounds pretty silly, and yet driving while talking on your cell, txting and checking email isn’t? Then this person explains how the “mass drivers” go too fast and just creep up on them. Holy shit, they creep up on you because you are not paying attention to your surroundings and your too busy with both your hands wrapped around your blackberry driving with your knees to look in your rear view mirrors.

2600 people died last year due to cell phone related car accidents. Is it really that important for you to be checking your email while your drive home?
