Question the Conventional

Exercise as cumulative stress

bendearman4.jpgExercise is a cumulative stress on the body, the more you exercise the more stress is layered onto your body. In fact you can essentially, think of your body as a 10 gallon container that you can fill up with water (stress, whether emotional or physical), thankfully there is a hole in the bottom of the container to let some of the stress drain out, the better conditioned you are, the bigger the hole the stress can flow out of, the less conditioned the smaller the hole. You always have some water (stress) in the bucket, attributed to every day emotional and physical trauma. When you go to the gym you pour water into the bucket, when you are at home resting the stress empties out. We never want to fill the container up completely because then it would over flow which would lead to over use injuries as well as other problems. So…take home point, exercise is a hind sight activity, you can never know what a particular program or exercise will do to you until a few days, potentially even weeks later. Don’t be afraid to push your self (thats really the only way you will see progress remember), but try and limit the all out crazy days to one to two days a week depending on your training age.
